About Us

To reach, help and uplift the neediest orphaned girl children with the love of God and help them grow as complete beings with dignity and as valuable citizens in the society. The service of Rose of Sharon is rooted in this foundation: “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble and to keep oneself unspotted from the world”. James 1:27

The Beginning

We realized, among children, that girls were the worst affected when they do not have a family to care for. Rose of Sharon had its humble beginning in 2002 with three small girls who became motherless through a tragic incident inside the house. The desperate story of these three little sisters challenged us to reach out and save them. Rose of Sharon eventually became a Home of Hope for 20 motherless or orphaned girl children.

Rose of Sharon is run by Scripture Ministries Trust (SMT). SMT was established in 1986 as a Christian charitable organization. The objectives are: To distribute Scripture and Provide holistic development through education, training, medical aid, and relief to the poor. SMT was founded by Rev. M. P. Prasanna Kumar and his wife M. Dorothy. We are grateful to (Late) Mr. Eric Johnston and his wife Late Aileen for the encouragement and support they had given.
